Abstract

At the centre of the study are sketches of Alban Berg's Lyrical Suite, which revolve around the formation of canons. The criteria by which Berg judged different variants of canon formation are discussed. Jonas Pfohl adopts a primarily analytical perspective, while Ulrich Wilker deals with annotations of the music sketches.
