This article examines the reception of Arnold Schönberg's music and aesthetics in Spain during the 1950s. After the Spanish Civil War, there was initially little interest in Schönberg's work, but in the 1950s a debate developed among composers and music critics about the integration of non-tonal practices into Spanish music. The essay sheds light on the different perspectives and influences that contributed to the reception of Schönberg's music in Spain.
